Public TV

The Public Television Company of Armenia (1TV) was founded in 1956 and is the country’s first television channel. It began regular broadcasting during the Soviet era and has since evolved into Armenia’s primary public service broadcaster. Over the decades, it has played a central role in shaping the national media landscape, becoming a trusted source of news, political analysis, and social discourse.

Today, 1TV airs a wide range of programming, including daily news bulletins, political and social debate programs, documentaries, educational projects, cultural content, and major national events. The channel is especially known for broadcasting state ceremonies, national celebrations, and important political developments.
1TV is a full member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which enables it to participate in international media cooperation, exchange content with other public broadcasters, and broadcast major global events. Through its EBU membership, Armenia also participates in projects such as the Eurovision Song Contest, increasing the country’s international media presence.
In recent years, the broadcaster has undergone significant modernization. It transitioned to high-definition (HD) broadcasting, upgraded its studio infrastructure, and expanded its digital presence. The channel is now available via terrestrial broadcasting, satellite, cable networks, and online streaming platforms, making its content accessible to both domestic viewers and the Armenian diaspora worldwide.
In addition to its main channel, the Public Television Company of Armenia operates digital platforms and thematic projects, strengthening its role as a modern multimedia organization. The company remains committed to public service values, including impartiality, cultural preservation, educational development, and the promotion of Armenian heritage.
