Davit Babakhanyan

Davit Babakhanyan was born in Yerevan. He studied at Yerevan School No. 149 and from 1992 to 1998 attended the Yerevan State Medical University, Faculty of General Medicine. Between 1998 and 2000, he completed postgraduate studies in dermatology and venereology. After graduating from university, he served in the army as a lieutenant in the medical service.
He began his professional career in 1995, collaborating with Sharm Holding, and from 2003 with Armenia TV.

From 2003 to 2008, he served as the director of the humor project “Kargin Haghordum”. In 2009, he began collaborating with the Public Television Company of Armenia, and a year later directed the TV series “Angel’s School”. In 2010, he directed the short-story TV novellas “Life Carousel”.
Together with Sharm Holding, he directed the films “Wanted: Millionaire”, “The Groom from the Circus”, “Poker.am”, and “North-South”. In 2011, he served as director of “The Groom from the Circus”, in 2012 directed the comedy “Poker.AM”, and in 2015, as director and screenwriter, he directed “North-South”. Since 2012, he has been the General Director of Armenia TV, as well as co-author and producer of various TV projects and films.
From 2013 to 2015, he was the producer of the sitcom “Tnpesa”, from 2014 to 2019 a co-author of “Full House”, and from 2015 to 2017 a co-producer of “Domino”.
In 2015, Babakhanyan directed the comedy film “North-South”, which became the first Armenian film to use 3D animation and large-scale visual effects.
In 2019, during the filming of music videos in Armenia by Russian rappers Timati and Nazima, Davit Babakhanyan served as the co-producer from the Armenian side.
From 2019 to 2020, as the director of Armenia TV, Babakhanyan collaborated with Associated Television International (USA) and Academy Films (Armenia), producing the English-language TV films “Death Squad” and “Kavaran” for the U.S. audience.
Since 2021, he has been the Head of the Directing Masterclass at the Armenian-Russian Slavic University.
